Mariana is an enthusiastic and versatile professional aged 28 with Portuguese roots, looking to combine her passion for nature, engineering and maritime professions in a new career move. After obtaining her degree in Ecology and Environment, she gained valuable practical experience in the maritime sector.

Experience and Training:

  • Maritime experience:
    • Sailed on a large ship with a crew of 31 in South Africa from May 2024 to August 2024.
    • Experienced as a skipper and diving instructor.
    • Resided on a sailboat, developing a deep understanding of ship dynamics and teamwork at sea.
  • Technical training:
    • Recently completed Deck & Engine Rating (Seaman + Assistant Mechanic Certificate), qualifying her as an assistant ship's engineer and sailor.
  • Scientific background:
    • Degree in Ecology and Environment.

Why Mechanical Work?

In recent years, Mariana has developed a growing interest in marine mechanics. Her work as a skipper and instructor has inspired her to learn more about the technical aspects of ships. Now that she has completed her Deck & Engine Rating, she is ready to transition into the mechanical side of the maritime industry.


Personal Qualities:

Mariana is energetic, positive and a real team player, but is also excellent at working independently. Her previous work in international environments has made her flexible and stress-resistant. She also has a strong eagerness to learn and is open to new courses and training. She has a passion for sports (especially diving and swimming) and nature, and in her spare time she gives swimming lessons and captures her creativity in photography.


Availability and Wishes:

  • Available: Immediately, full-time.
  • Location: Currently resides in Delft, with her sister, and is flexible in terms of location.
  • Salary: By mutual agreement.
  • Future ambitions: Starting in a assistant mechanical position and developing further in the technical and maritime sector.

With her broad experience and drive, Mariana is a valuable addition to any team in the maritime or technical sector.
