Aleksandr's Story: From Newcomer to Aspiring Welder
Aleksandr, originally from Ukraine, came to the Netherlands looking for opportunities to grow and build a future in a new environment. Aleksandr found the perfect match at Verwater: an industrial company specializing in tank maintenance and construction. Since starting at Verwater two months ago, Aleksandr has embraced the challenge of learning new skills in an industrial setting. He began by observing the work processes, understanding the systems, and gradually gaining hands-on experience. "At the moment, I can say that I have seen and tried many different and interesting things," Aleksandr shared. One of his most exciting milestones is learning the art of welding, a skill he’s improving daily with the help of his mentor. "Now I am learning to do welding work, and it’s getting better each time!"
Beyond technical skills, Aleksandr has found satisfaction in the dynamic and supportive workplace. "The most satisfying thing about this job for me is doing something new and the opportunity to grow. Melissa, the Junior HR Advisor at Verwater, has seen firsthand how determination and a willingness to learn can lead to success. “It was all new for him, and he definitely had challenges, like cycling to work in the early mornings,” she explained. “But Aleksandr’s strength is his communication—he stayed in touch with me and the foreman to ensure he was always on the right track.”
Melissa praises Aleksandr’s ability to adapt quickly to the company’s culture and systems: “He listens well and picks things up quickly. He’s a smart, hard-working guy who navigates the industry with ease.”
When asked about challenges, Melissa noted her initial concerns about safety communication. However, Aleksandr quickly proved himself. “Safety is a big focus here, and he’s been attentive and eager to learn. I’m impressed with how he’s adapted so far.” Today, Aleksandr is working on welding test pieces. Melissa is optimistic about his future: “With his dedication and effort, I have no doubt that Aleksandr will excel.”
