If you’re thinking about resigning, make sure you try to find a solution first. For example, by talking to a confidential adviser or by looking for another job in advance.
There are a number of rules when you resign from your employer:
- You can always cancel a contract of indefinite duration, but you do often have a notice period. During that period you still have to continue working. This gives the company time to find someone else to fill in your position. You can only cancel a temporary contract if this has been agreed upon in the contract;
- If you resign you will have 14 days reflection time to review your decision;
- If you resign when you don’t have another job yet, you will most likely not receive an unemployment benefit (WW).
