Many sailors love the fact that they can have a free existence on the water and at the same time have a home on the water. You don’t just become a sailor; for this you have to be adventurous, eager to learn and a real go-getter. In addition, you must have a sailor’s diploma or the sailor’s stamp in the service booklet. If this is not the case, you can follow a course through us to become a qualified sailor. After all, you only really learn the profession of a sailor when you just do it.
The following tasks will be part of your job:
- coupling and uncoupling of barges;
- mooring of barges;
- preparing barges so they are ready to sail;
- maintenance work.
You also provide a healthy meal for the crew. Besides that, you arrange provisions and keep the ship clean and tidy.
Do you have:
- knowledge of the Dutch language, German language or English language (and willing to learn a language while on board);
- you must be graduated from high school (at minimum);
- a service record book with at least one note for the position of apprentice sailor (or willing to get one);
- willingness to follow further education/courses;
- a good health and in good shape physically to do heavy work;
- driving license B is an advantage but not obligated.

You will work on one of our impressive push boats with modern equipment and good facilities, such as a spacious cabin and a fitness room. You work according to our 14/14 schedule and you have 21 holidays. So you work just 162 days per year.
