Mykyta

Ensuring safety @ Pasten B.V.

From Ukraine to a New Start in the Netherlands

Mykyta, originally from Ukraine, started working at Pasten B.V. in May 2023.
When he first came to our office, we were immediately charmed by his kindness and determination. He wanted to find a job that would allow him to support his wife and three children.

During our conversations, it quickly became clear that Mykyta wasn’t afraid of hard work.
His main wishes were simple: a welcoming team and a salary that could provide for his family.

We immediately thought of Pasten B.V., a company based in the same town as our office.
Pasten is known for its friendly, family-oriented culture and its expertise in scaffolding construction.

After introducing Mykyta to the company, both sides quickly felt the connection — and the collaboration began.

A few months later, we checked in with both Mykyta and his supervisors Gino and Gary to learn how things were going.

Mykyta’s Experience at Pasten B.V.

“My work at Pasten B.V. is a challenge — but a fun one,” Mykyta shares.
“The job can be tough, but I enjoy it. I get to see different projects and beautiful views. What makes it even better is the warm atmosphere — everyone greets me kindly, and there’s always coffee waiting.”

Mykyta appreciates the excellent working conditions at Pasten. He mentions the good salary, free work clothes, and the daily coffee treats from his bosses.

He laughs while remembering his first day:

“I forgot my work shoes! They quickly found another pair for me. The size wasn’t perfect, but my feet were safe.”

Learning, Growing, and Integrating

For Mykyta, the warm welcome from the team has been a true gift.
He values the support, respect, and knowledge-sharing within the company.

As a newcomer without previous work experience in the Netherlands — and with limited Dutch — he is grateful for the opportunities both Pasten B.V. and Port of Opportunities provided.

“I’m learning Dutch quickly because I’m the only Ukrainian in the company,” he explains.
“Whenever I have a question, my colleagues help me and explain things.”

He believes that the environment at Pasten allows him to learn and grow every day.

“Many thanks to both Pasten B.V. and Port of Opportunities for helping me integrate so easily.”

A Company’s Perspective: Gino & Gary on Mykyta

Gino, Mykyta’s supervisor, is delighted with his enthusiasm and dedication.

“Mykyta’s positivity and willingness to learn have inspired us all,” he says.
“His openness and eagerness to connect with the team helped him integrate smoothly.”

Language was one of the main challenges at first, but the company tackled it systematically.
They began with basic material knowledge and gradually expanded his vocabulary and confidence.

Gary proudly adds:

“Mykyta’s dedication to learning and his colleagues’ support have led to a remarkable transformation.”

A Successful Partnership

Gary extends his gratitude to Port of Opportunities and Max for ensuring a smooth onboarding process.
He encourages other companies to consider hiring newcomers — especially in today’s tight labour market.

“Mykyta has become an integral part of our team,” Gary emphasizes.
“We’re excited to see him grow. Port of Opportunities played a vital role in bringing us together, and it’s great to see Mykyta happy and thriving.”

Pasten B.V. proves that when a company and a newcomer come together with mutual trust, a true success story can unfold.
