Since July 2023, Yevhen has been working at VT Group Rotterdam as a QSHE Controller — which stands for Quality, Safety, Health and Environment.
Originally from Ukraine, Yevhen joined Port of Opportunities at the end of June. We are proud to have helped him find a fitting job so quickly at VT Group.
In September 2023, two months after the successful match, we checked in with Yevhen and his manager, Remy, to see how things were going.
Learning and Developing Together
“Yevhen has been extremely eager and motivated to learn since the moment he joined our QSHE team,”
says Remy, his manager.
Although Yevhen had no previous experience in tanker shipping, he adapted quickly. After several trips to VT Group’s projects, he gained the knowledge required for his role.
Yevhen describes his learning process with enthusiasm:
“During my first months, I visited several barges with colleagues. This helped me gain not only theoretical but also practical knowledge.”
VT Group created an encouraging and educational environment for him:
“They gave me the opportunity to follow all necessary trainings and courses. Recently, I successfully completed the LNG bunkering course. Soon, I’ll also start a Dutch language course organized by the company. My team supports me a lot and always shares their experience.”
Integration and Team Spirit
Yevhen now feels fully integrated into his team:
“I’ve met new people who support me and share insights — not only about work but also about living in the Netherlands.”
Remy confirms this positive development:
“It’s great to see how well Yevhen fits in. He feels at home here, and that’s important for the team.”
Both Yevhen and Remy are very positive about the role Port of Opportunities played in the integration process.
Remy emphasized that Yevhen exceeded his expectations and has become a valuable addition to the team.
